Thursday Night Indie Spotlight Ep. 51: Uncanny Valley | PS4 Gameplay
Thursday night is indie night! This week, I (@piccolo930) fired up developer Cowardly Creations' side-scrolling psychological horror game, Uncanny Valley. I find myself incredibly intrigued by Uncanny Valley after spending an hour with it. I'm not sure that I have a definitive read on the game yet, but I will say I'm very curious to see where things go from here. The game does a great job conveying a sense of fear and tension through its audio design, and this is by far Uncanny Valley's strongest element. I thought it was really cool how Cowardly Creations was able to generate this feeling of uneasiness that permeates throughout the entirety of the game, despite the game's crude, minimalist aesthetic. While the game is a tad on the obtuse side, and it doesn't appear to have been designed with a controller in mind (the UI and menu screen have clearly been brought over from the PC version and remain unchanged, mouse cursor and all), I think there's enough here to warrant a look from survival horror and adventure fans. I'm looking forward to continuing my disturbing journey through the game in the near future. If you've yet to check out Uncanny Valley for yourself, take a look at the video below and see what it's all about!
