Greetings, fellow video game fanatics!
My name is Frankie and I love to game. You might recognize me as the former host of the Late at Night Party podcast from Console Agnostics, or perhaps from way back in the days of my First Checkpoint Gamescast that I did a few episodes of on YouTube. While I had fun doing things for Console Agnostics (and may continue to hold a very minor role over there?), I was very taken with the Short Pause site when it launched last year. It was a site I felt I wanted to be a part of, but wasn’t sure I’d ever find myself in a position where I’d be writing this bio page for that very site — but here we are!
For those of you who are not familiar with me, I’ve been gaming for the better part of the past 20 years (I will be 27 in a few short weeks). My parents didn’t necessarily support my interest in gaming when I was growing up, so I was limited to my Sega Genesis with Sonic Spinball, Boogerman, Eternal Champions, Dinosaurs for Hire and the WWF and Mortal Kombat games (sans MK1, even though it was the very first game I had ever played). Naturally, this led to me buying many consoles over the years as I earned my own income to spend on whatever I wanted. That said, I’ve missed out on a ton of games that most gamers should have experienced, such as Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, Castlevania…you get the point, I’m sure. But while missing out on those, I still had the opportunity to experience a wealth of other fantastic games such as Kolibri, Snatcher, Pikmin, Twisted Metal 2, and Banjo-Kazooie to name a few.
Fast forward to today, and you are most likely to find me talking video games on Twitter throughout the day as I work two jobs. I own all current-gen platforms (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U) and tend to buy almost everything that comes out. I am a huge fan of trophies, so you’re likely to find me on PSN more than anything else. My gaming “history,” if you will, is predominantly within the PlayStation ecosystem (my 360 caught the red ring of death just as I started getting into achievements).
So, what am I doing here anyways? Well, it turns out that the Short Pause team wanted to expand in terms of video content, and that’s one of the things I’ve been itching to get into, but I felt limited in this respect during my last website outing. I’m planning on working with the team here to bring you guys a couple of ideas I’ve been rolling around in my head for some time now, and Short Pause felt like the right home for them. I hope to eventually be a part of the podcast, as well as provide some reviews. If anyone has any suggestions for games they’d like to see me document my path to the platinum for, or just want to kick back and talk about how amazing Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Vyprstryke, or any of the aforementioned current-gen platforms at the same username.
