Short Pause Weekly Rewind | Week of May 14th, 2017

Does anyone out there actually like black licorice? I have never met a single person who does, so why would they have black licorice jelly beans in this jar!? But I digress…We hope everyone has had an awesome week! Surprising absolutely none of you, we're all aboard the Destiny 2 hype train here at the site as we're gearing up to break down everything we learned at the big reveal event this past week on Episode 117 of the Short Pause Gaming Podcast! A plethora of games that we’ve been hyped to get our hands on dropped this week, and we couldn't wait to fire them up and show them off for you fine folks. So, let's take a look at some of the new video content you may have missed from us and a couple of our friends this past week!

Episode 116 of the Short Pause Gaming Podcast

The band was back together this week as Brent, Ben, Bender, and Frankie discussed the upcoming new releases, the unfortunate news surrounding both IO Interactive and BioWare Montreal, and much more!

Episode 6 of Playing By the Hyrules

Bender and Frankie are once again joined by their good friend JD, from the Play and Listen Gaming Podcast, to discuss their experiences on Death Mountain in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This is a spoilercast, so if you have not played Breath of the Wild or do not want to hear any spoilers, proceed with caution.

Frankie's Making His Way Through The Surge

We were fortunate to receive a review copy of The Surge late last week, and Frankie has diligently been making his way through yet another game he's been waiting for with baited breath. Not wanting to leave our fans in the dark without a review ready to go for Tuesday, Frankie took the opportunity to fire up a stream and give us an idea of what to expect from the latest from our friends at Deck13. He also shared some of his thoughts on the game thus far. The Surge is available now on PS4, XB1 and PC for $59.99.

Tuesday Night Indie Spotlight #65: Seasons After Fall

After a couple weeks of some challenging titles in the Spotlight, Ben hopped into Swing Swing Submarine's Seasons After Fall - a 2D-platformer where you play as a little fox who has the ability to alter the seasons to manipulate the game world and progress. If you enjoy watching Ben play this charming game, it can be yours for $19.99 on PS4, XB1 or PC.

Brent Dons the PSVR Headset Armed with the Aim Controller to Play Some Farpoint!

Hot off the heels of the impressive StarBlood Arena last month, Brent's most anticipated VR experience to date came in the form of Farpoint, a sci-fi world he couldn’t wait to get his hands on! Watch his exploits in the extended video below, and share your thoughts with us on whether or not this game was a make-or-break release for you that may or may not have gotten you into a PSVR headset in the comments below! Farpoint is available now as either a standalone game for $49.99 or, if you can currently find one, in a bundle with the PS Aim controller for $79.99.

Ben Armored Up for Some Injustice 2

The first of many fighting game releases for the year has finally landed as NetherRealm Studio's latest “boot-and-loot,” (you heard that phrase here first!) Injustice 2, sees DC's heroes and villains collide yet again as an all new reward system takes center stage featuring items that boost player stats. Ben dons the cowl and checks out some of the various modes and features included in the game before he builds up the courage to head online for some unranked bouts. Injustice 2 is available now on PS4 and XB1 as a standard edition featuring just the game for $59.99, a Digital Deluxe edition that includes the first 3 DLC characters, an exclusive shader and a premium skin for $79.99, or the Ultimate Edition for $99.99 that comes with a steelbook case, 9 DLC characters, 2 shaders, and 3 premium skins for specific characters.

So This is What Happens When You Laugh at JD's Mario Kart 8 Skills

Our buddy JD is dedicated to the cause of dethroning Bender as our resident Mario Kart 8 Deluxe champion and has, of course, been hosting some streams over the past week. When Frankie decided to mercilessly ridicule JD over totally blowing the chance to stop a blue turtle shell from costing him a race, JD had to retaliate in the way that only he could: By showing Frankie and Brent how to play Halo 5! Check out his cool highlight video and messages to Frankie and Brent below.

The Original Next Level Gaming Crew Chats with the Director of the ID@Xbox Program

Mike and his crew welcomed guest Chris Charla onto their show this past week! You can check out the archived version of the show below and, if you enjoy it, consider tuning in live every Sunday night at 9pm EST over on their YouTube channel as they love to incorporate their live viewers into the show.
