Short Pause Weekly Rewind | Week of April 23rd, 2017
Another week down, another week closer to Prey! Between all of the games releasing soon and the inevitable return of Brent and Frankie's favorite Wendy's sandwich -- the Jalapeno Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich -- things are about to get pretty hectic within the walls of the Short Pause offices. (No, we're not sponsored by Wendy's, but wouldn't that be something?! They could just pay us in Spicy Chicken Sandwiches...horrible idea...I digress). In case you missed any of our various streams this week, we've got you covered in this week's edition of the Short Pause Weekly Rewind!
Episode 113 of the Short Pause Gaming Podcast
Brent is the delicious meat in the always tasty Ben sandwich on this week's episode of the Short Pause Gaming Podcast. Join the fellas as they discuss this week's loaded new release list, some juicy Call of Duty: WWII leaks, May's Games with Gold line-up, and much more!
Short Pause Let's Play: Outlast 2
The first of several hotly anticipated new releases amongst the team here this week unlocked at 10pm EST on Monday night with the launch of Outlast 2. Bend...erm...Brent (wait a minute, wasn't Bender supposed to be streaming this!? THE PEOPLE WANTED IT!) armed himself with a change of pants and turned off the lights as he checked out the latest frightfest from Red Barrels. Outlast 2 is available on PS4, XB1 and PC for $29.99 -- or if you're new to the series, you can pick up the Outlast Trinity retail release that houses Outlast, the Whistleblower DLC, and Outlast 2 for $39.99.
Tuesday Night Indie Spotlight #62 - Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment
Our beloved Shovel Knight saw its latest DLC hit PlayStation platforms this week, and Ben was waiting for it with baited breath. Watch Ben gleefully slice enemies in half with Specter Knight down below! If you purchased Shovel Knight prior to this month, Specter of Torment is waiting for you for free. Otherwise, it can be purchased as a stand alone add-on for $9.99 on PS4, PC, Switch, and soon-to-be XB1, or as part of the Treasure Trove bundle for $24.99 on PS4, XB1, PC, Switch, and a variety of other gaming platforms.
Bender Plays What Remains of Edith Finch
With the crushing guilt and probable regret of not heading up our Outlast 2 stream hanging over his head, Bender hopped into the live streaming ring this week to play one of his standout PAX South titles, What Remains of Edith Finch. It's available on PS4 and PC for $19.99.
Midnight Release Party - Little Nightmares
We couldn't get Frankie to shut up about this game leading up to its Friday release. Reviews came in hot last week and made the wait even harder for Frankie to bear as he waited for the clock to strike midnight so that his experience inside of Six's living nightmare in The Maw could begin. You can check out the first hour below and, if your interest is piqued, you can pick it up on PS4, XB1 or PC digitally for $19.99. If you're a fellow physical advocate, you can seek out the Six Edition for $34.99 at your favorite games retailer.
The Original Next Level Gaming Crew Goes Retro!
If retro games are your cup of tea, our friends at the Original Next Level Gaming Podcast have you covered this week! On their podcast last week, CrazyJuan showed off an OG Xbox title called MechAssault during his "Retro Recommendation" segment on the show, and listeners requested a play through! Juan, being the retro-loving gentleman that he is, was all-too-happy to oblige. He's now begun posting his latest Retro series on the NLG YouTube feed. Part 1 is below, with the next few episodes already in the editing pipeline. You can tune into their show every Sunday night at 9pm EST as Mike, Peter, Jason, Juan, Nathan, and sometimes our very own Frankie discuss some of the latest happenings in the world of video games on their YouTube channel!
Play and Listen Hones in on the Blue Bomber on the Latest Podcast
As we mentioned last week, our very own Ben Boyce was invited to join the show this week to play and share some of his favorite and most memorable Mega Man music with fellow super fan and show host, JD. Packed to the brim with nearly 2 hours of Mega Man talk and music, JD and Ben put on another great show as they wax poetic about a franchise near and dear to their heart. They also continue to hold out hope for that fabled Mega Man X Collection (Please, take our money, Capcom!). JD doesn't typically put the show on YouTube, but being the bold man that he is, you can find it in video form below, as well as on iTunes and SoundCloud for those who prefer just the audio.
If you’d like to share your thoughts on anything we’ve featured (or didn't get to) this week, or if you have any questions or topics you’d love to hear us discuss on the podcast, hit us up at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter @TheShortPause. Episode 114 should be a fun one as all four of the guys will reunite (seriously, it's been a while!) this week to discuss the new releases, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, and more! Bender is currently hard at work editing the next episode of Playing By The Hyrules, so keep an eye out for that in the coming week too! Once again, thank you for stopping by the site! We hope you enjoy the games we had a chance to showcase this week, and we'll talk again next week!
