Short Pause Gaming Podcast #96: E3 In December - The Game Awards, PSX 2016, & The Last of Us Part II

The third annual Short Pause Experience has arrived! For the third year in a row, the fellas breakdown all the happenings from The Video Game Awards and PlayStation Experience in what is quickly becoming one of the biggest weekends on the calendar for gaming fans. Topics this week include:

  • The Last of Us Part II is Officially Announced - In a surprise ending to an epic PSX press conference, Naughty Dog and Sony officially confirmed they are working on The Last of Us Part II with an incredible trailer re-introducing the gaming world to Joel and Ellie. Can this game possibly live up to the impossibly high standard set by the first?
  • Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Footage - We finally got to see an extended look at gameplay from the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda, and the game appears to be coming along very nicely. Combat looks exciting and fluid, and the powers and warping look spectacular on the game's Frostbite engine. Also, optional super-bosses sound incredibly awesome.
  • Uncharted 4 DLC Revealed - Not only did Naughty Dog end Sony's tightly plotted PlayStation Experience conference, they started it off with a bang with a new almost nine minute trailer revealing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a new standalone expansion for Uncharted 4 starring Chloe (!) and Nadine. Is this expansion going to be even bigger than originally anticipated?
  • Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is Debuted - One of the biggest pre-PSX rumors surrounded the existence of a new Marvel vs. Capcom, and the fans got exactly what they wanted. A new entry in the revered fighting series is coming in 2017, and it looks gorgeous running on Unreal Engine 4. With several characters already confirmed for the roster (Mega Man, Ryu, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Morrigan, Captain America), who else can we expect to join the ranks in the months ahead?
  • Kojima Shows Off a New Death Stranding Trailer - After accepting his Industry Icon award at The Game Awards, Kojima left the audience a little present for the holidays as he showed off a stunning new trailer for Death Stranding starring Guillermo Del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen. What is this very strange, yet very intriguing, game going to be about? What clues can we draw from the two trailers we've seen?
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Debuts New Footage - We got not one, but two new looks as the next Zelda game, as a trailer and gameplay demo made an appearance during The Game Awards. While the trailer was filled with intriguing visuals and beautiful music, the odd Treehouse gameplay demo didn't show off anything new and looked sub-par visually. How much better is this game going to look and run on Nintendo Switch?
  • Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy Gets a Gameplay Demo - The gaming world finally got their first gameplay glimpse of the remastered Crash trilogy running on the PS4, and the marsupial's inaugural adventures have never looked better! Is this game going to be a proving ground for future Crash adventures?
