Short Pause Gaming Podcast #95: Zelda "Delayed," Juicy New Switch Rumors, & Should There Be A Titanfall 3?

Let us be amongst the first to wish all of the wonderful gamers out there a Happy Thanksgiving! With turkey day right around the corner, the fellas get together one more time before the holiday to talk the latest and greatest in the world of gaming. Topics this week include:

  • Breath of the Wild "Delayed" - A new rumor, corroborated by several reliable sources, points to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild releasing after the launch of the Nintendo Switch. The culprit appears to be localization issues for the gargantuan title taking longer than originally planned. The eagerly anticipated game is now expected to launch summer 2017 at the earliest. What impact will this have on the launch of Nintendo Switch?
  • This Week in Nintendo Switch - A new 3D Mario game and Skyrim at launch, Splatoon as a possible pack-in title, and the updated version of Mario Kart 8 being complete and ready to release are just a few of the juicy Nintendo Switch rumors that made the rounds this week. With a new Mario game rumored to release with the system, will this mitigate any damage that may have been done by The Legend of Zelda not being there at launch?
  • Telltale's Marvel Game Revealed? - Documents obtained as a result of SAG-AFTRA voice actors strike have apparently outed the Guardians of the Galaxy as the subject of Telltale's highly anticipated collaboration with Marvel. Are the Guardians the perfect Marvel characters for Telltale to be involved with?
  • Watch Dogs 2 Hints at New Ubisoft Titles - A clever Watch Dogs 2 mission has players breaking into a fictional version of Ubisoft San Francisco and stealing what appears to be a legitimate trailer for an unannounced space exploration game. Kotaku reports that the game is codenamed "Pioneer," and is actually a real project in development. Or at least it was at one point. Is this an innovative way to drum up excitement for a new Ubisoft IP, or is this simply a fun side mission in Watch Dogs 2? Also, is "Osiris" referring to the next Assassin's Creed game?
  • NPD October Results - The Xbox One was the top piece of hardware for the fourth consecutive month here in the US, while a very interesting software chart is dominated by Battlefield 1Mafia III, and Gears of War 4 at the top. With Titanfall 2's ninth place finish on October's chart, is this game doomed to underperform?
  • Titanfall 3 is Uncertain - Despite critical and commercial acclaim, Titanfall 2 does not appear to be lighting up the sales charts, both here in the US and abroad. After EA's strange decision to release the game in-between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, how much is the mega-publisher actually behind this franchise? Is there a chance we'll see a third Titanfall?
  • Just a reminder, there will be no show next week as we're off for the holidays. We'll talk to you again (if we can pull ourselves away from Final Fantasy XV) in two weeks!
