Short Pause Gaming Podcast #76: Latest NEO Rumors, Marvel's Upcoming Plans, & What Does Breath of the Wild Tell Us About the NX?

It's the calm after the storm! E3 2016 is in the books, and it's time for the gaming industry to return to business as usual. It's a two-man show this week as Brent and Ben talk the latest and greatest in the world of video games. Topics this week include:

  • Fresh NEO Rumors - Another week, another batch of rumors about Sony's mid-cycle upgrade console. Word on the street is that the House of PlayStation is actually preparing two separate NEO models, including one quite a bit more powerful than the one that's been leaked for months. Only one of these is expected to be released to consumers. Has this been the plan all along, or is this simply reactionary after Microsoft's reveal of Project Scorpio? Is this rumor legitimate?
  • Marvel's Big Video Game Plans - Jay Ong, vice president of Marvel's video game division, has made it clear that Marvel is in the business of making "great" video games from here on out. With partnerships with Sony, Insomniac, Telltale, and Traveler's Tales already on the board, who might the mega superhero brand join up with next? Who's the next character to get the video game treatment?
  • More NX Talk - The NX's form of media has been the talk of the Nintendo world this past week. GameStop says the new system will have a form of physical media, debunking earlier reports that suggested the system may be digital only. With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's trademark listing revealed last week as well, it seems that some form of physical media is all but confirmed at this point. Also, does this trademark listing confirm the NX's rumored handheld/console hybrid design?
  • Shovel Knight News - Shovel Knight gets a host of new info this week, including news of Spectre Knight and King Knight's campaigns and new modes coming in the future. After they're finished with Shovel Knight, what should developer Yacht Club Games work on next?
  • Sonic Has a New Game Coming - Sonic Team confirmed they're working on a brand new Sonic game to release in 2017. Might this finally be the hedgehog's long-awaited return to video game prominence?
  • Plus, this week's new releases and much, much MORE!
