Rokka - Braves of the Six Flowers - Episode 1 - Q&A
Do you think this will be a good anime?
Yes. So far, Braves of the Six Flowers looks amazing. It's probably my most anticipated series this season. It reminds me of Yona of the Dawn but looks to be more epic, like Magi. I can't wait to see every episode. I also can't help but compare it to Black Bullet — where there was another large monster that spawned lesser monsters — or to the video game Final Fantasy X and the enemy known as Sin. And the fact that there are demon and god references brings Bahamut Zero to mind. All of these comparisons are probably why I have high expectations for this series.
More than anything, however, Rokka - Braves of the Six Flowers feels most similar to The Stormlight Archive (series) written by Brandon Sanderson, which I highly recommend. If you haven't read it, go do it now.
What are your greatest fears for this show?
I don't want to set my expectations too high and then be disappointed by the finale. Worst case scenario, we'll have another Akame ga Kill, or it will just be mildly entertaining like Yona of the Dawn.
It will also be terrible if the show is amazing but only lasts for one season or goes on an incredibly long hiatus. You know the type.
The setting of Rokka looks like a Mayan/Incan/Aztec civilization but the people look nothing like them. It's whitewashed. Show me some darker skin soon, please.
