Those of you who listen to our podcast undoubtedly know of my love for physical games. Limited Run Games, a side-project from the folks at Mighty Rabbit Studios (they of Breach & Clear and now Saturday Morning RPG fame), is a group dedicated to not only preserving previously digital-only PS Vita and PS4 titles on physical formats, but creating their own line of collectible games that are — as their name implies — part of a limited run. Their first product, a physical copy of Breach & Clear for the Vita, sold through its run of 1200 copies in less than two hours!
Limited Run has a number of titles they’d love to bring to a physical medium, but they can’t do it without proof that demand for it exists! Limited Run hit 3000 followers on Twitter recently (@LimitedRunGames) and, with that, Oddworld Inhabitants has finally decided to get in on the festivities as they’ve announced a physical Vita version of their beloved Oddworld: New ’N’ Tasty, which just recently made its Vita debut via the PlayStation Network. With some bigger titles set in their sights, such as Hotline Miami and Super Meat Boy, our best shot at seeing these get a physical release is to spread the word that Limited Run Games exists!
Saturday Morning RPG, their recently released passion project, will be their next piece of physical merchandise. It goes on sale this Friday, January 29th, over at www.limitedrungames.com. The run includes 1,980 PS4 copies, alongside 2,500 Vita units, priced at $24.99 each. A special bundle of both the game and its 80’s-inspired soundtrack , which is limited to only 375 total units, is available for both versions as well for $39.99. In order to give everyone around the world a fair shake at getting their hands on these rare titles, half of each platform will go on sale at 10am EST on Friday, with the other half going live at 6pm EST.
Be sure to give these guys a follow on Twitter (@LimitedRunGames), and look them up on Facebook and Instagram as well! Stay tuned to Short Pause as we’re making our way through Saturday Morning RPG and we’ll have a review up shortly!
