Durarara

A fan service review of Durarara.

I want to tell you about this anime I watched, named Durarara. Have you seen it yet? "Yes" or "No"? No, I haven’t seen it. What’s it about? It’s about a boy who moves to Tokyo by himself to meet up with an old friend and see what the big city is all about. He’s never been far from home or seen much of the world, but this new city has gangs, fights, abductions, and a headless motorcycle rider who races through the city! …at least, that’s what the rumors say. For a 15 year old boy, it’s a lot to take in. From his perspective, we meet friends and enemies, and a little bit of the story unfolds. But you know what they say. “There are always two sides to a story.” This story is told from multiple perspectives, which I think some may find interesting. I thought it was confusing. True to life, everyone in Durarara has different goals or ambitions, but only one character in this series had real purpose. They weren’t the main focus by the series’ conclusion, though. Why were you confused? You know how anime episodes continue with a recap of what happened in the previous episode? This one recaps, and then it repeats the story from the previous episode, but from someone else’s perspective. There were a couple times when I asked myself, “Didn’t this happen already? Am I watching the same episode again?” I originally dropped the series, but picked it back up after some friends said it was worth continuing. Unfortunately, the season finale didn’t change my opinion much. There just weren’t any moments when I laughed or cried or felt really affected in any way. Although, I did get annoyed once or twice. Who recommended it to you? @Animelytical and @AngelicaCapi both enjoyed it. You should follow them on Twitter, if you like anime. What annoyed you about it? The most annoying parts are spoilers, and I don’t want to spoil it for you. Come back and tell me you’ve seen it, then I’ll tell you all about it. Of all the anime I’ve seen, I think it reminds me most of Hamatora, if you’ve seen that. I’ve seen Hamatora. How is it similar? Hamatora and Durarara are both set in a modern, urban setting where a lot of dangerous things happen at night. There’s a lot of subterfuge in both, and they each have supernatural (fantasy) elements. If you liked Hamatora, I think you’ll like Durarara more. Overall, I’d only give it 3 out of 5 stars. Call me a tough critic, but I didn’t like Hamatora very much either. If you decide to watch it anyway, let me know what you think. Yeah, I’ve seen it. What did you think about it? I think it's messed up. Celty was clearly the most interesting character, but the series wasted so much time on other, less important characters whose names I can’t remember. Celty is looking for her head. Dollars Dude is trying to have an interesting life, I think. Yellow Scarf Boy wants a girlfriend? Big Boobs wants…ummm… I don’t know. Celty is looking for her head!!! Name something that’s more important than your head.
A hat?
A Chef’s Knife?
An Exceed?
A starfish?!
A hat! A hat?! Whatever, Luffy. (One Piece) A Chef’s Knife! A chef's knife is that important? Get outta here, Komatsu (Toriko). An Exceed! You've been watching too much Fairy Tail.
Starfish!!!
Starfish, huh? LOL. Okay, Fuko. Nothing is more important than your head. Honestly, I dropped the series when Celty’s “best friend” (the doctor guy) said he always knew about what happened to her head, but he never told her. Celty had an issue with it for a moment, then got over it. I was like, “WHAT?! Get the F___ outta here!” If someone stole my CELL PHONE and my WIFE knew where it was but wasn’t telling me, I’d be like, “Babe. We’re getting a divorce.” LOL Some friends motivated me to finish the series, which I did, but I only felt slightly better about it by the time it ended. Who recommended it to you? @animelytical and @AngelicaCapi recommend it. If you’re into anime and on Twitter, you should be following them. Another thing that annoyed me was the story about the guy and his stalker girlfriend. How do you go from trying to murder a girl to falling in love with her? You know who I’m talking about? The girl that looks like Celty. And I can’t even say that the story had an interesting plot twist with the way the three friends ended up being heads of their own gangs, because I saw it coming. In the end, Yellow Scarf Boy went on a vacation, Dollars Dude and Big Boobs stayed in school, and Celty still didn’t know where her head was. With an ending like that, (and a lackluster everything else) I can't give it more than 3 stars. Season 2? Sorry. I'm out, guys. You still there? I did think Shizuo Heiwajima was cool though. I had to Google his name. 😊 Cut. Cutted, weak, wrong. Can’t. Control. Want is desire. Oh my gosh. Love not enough. Love want person. More Strong Love Want. Wish I Mom Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom.
