About an hour ago, Microsoft announced that beginning June 9th, retailers will begin selling a Kinect-less Xbox One for $399. This major announcement comes a day after rumors began swirling that there were changes coming to Xbox Live, and sure enough, today we got an email indicating that popular services such as YouTube and Netflix will no longer require an Xbox Live membership in order to use.
Having bought the Xbox One on day one, I've since quit using my AT&T U-verse box through it as I didn't really dig the experience. I still use Kinect for snapping and such, but I believe this is a great move by Microsoft and should definitely be considered a step in the right direction.
With E3 just around the corner it appears that Microsoft is looking to build up some momentum before their press conference at 12:30 PST on Monday June 9th. What are your thoughts about today's Microsoft announcement? Are you more likely to pick up an Xbox One now that they've made the system more appealing to consumers?
