WOOOOHOOOO! I can finally start talking about my newest endeavor here at Short Pause! Some of you may remember me from my short stint at PlayNation Plus, where I contributed reviews, editorial pieces, gameplay videos, and a regular dose of witticism to the PlayNation Plus podcast. Working with Kyle and Eric was an incredible learning experience, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity that they gave me. As much as I will miss PlayNation Plus, I’m even more excited about working with the great people behind Short Pause. We have a lot of great ideas that we are excited to see come to fruition slowly over time. I believe gamers (that’s YOU!) will like what we have planned, and we look forward to getting your feedback!
“One other area I’m really excited to help with is live streaming!”
Now, a little bit about me! I’m 34 years old, happily married, and a proud father of a newly born baby boy (which reminds me, I need to secure his PSN ID…TheDude13). I work full time as a Technical Specialist for a telecommunications company, and when I’m not doing that, I love to spend time with my family, my friends, and…you guessed it, playing video games! I have been gaming since 1984, when I first got my hands on Frogger for Intellivision. I’ve gone through many consoles over the years, but it’s no secret that my heart has belonged to Sony since 1995. However, because I’m a gamer first (fanboy second!), I’ve decided to let both the Xbox One and Wii-U into my man cave this generation. I don’t want to miss out on any of the new experiences this generation has to offer just because of my fondness for the PlayStation brand.
My contributions here at Short Pause will deal mainly with video games, as I will be contributing game reviews, covering developing stories within the gaming industry, and writing editorial pieces. One other area I’m really excited to help with is live streaming! My plan is to live stream newly released games the day they hit the streets, offering my initial impressions and answering any questions you may have during those streams. At the start, we will primarily cover PlayStation games, but when needed, I will bring you gameplay videos, live streams, and reviews of the biggest exclusives appearing on both Xbox One and Wii-U. Obviously as Short Pause grows, so too will our coverage.
“Modern day gaming brings us stories that are more engaging and emotional, characters that are deep and complex, and presentation values that are at Hollywood caliber levels”
I definitely consider myself a hardcore gamer, not because I dominate every game I play (believe me, I don’t), but because I love all the different aspects this medium has to offer, especially as video game productions have evolved and changed over the course of their relatively brief history to reach the point we’re at today. Modern day gaming brings us stories that are more engaging and emotional, characters that are deep and complex, and presentation values that are at Hollywood caliber levels. If I’m not at home playing video games, then I’m at work playing on my PlayStation Vita (*ahem* on my lunch and during breaks of course). And if my PlayStation Vita is dead, then I’m listening to video game soundtracks on my iPhone. I’m open to all genres of games, but often find myself gravitating towards Action, Adventure, FPS, Platformers, and Indie games. There are certain RPG games that I love (Fallout & Skyrim), while others leave me wondering why they even exist (Persona & Final Fantasy). Hopefully, some of you can help me see what I’m obviously missing!
I’m really looking forward to helping Short Pause become a site that you will appreciate and trust. You should expect nothing but honest, unbiased views. We don’t get special treatment from developers or publishers, and we buy our own software and hardware. We aim to bring you the content you want to see, and to keep you well informed about what’s happening on your console of choice. I personally am looking forward to having conversations with all of you, whether it’s here at Short Pause, or while gaming online! See you around!
